- She was able to reign when the death of Empress Elizabeth led to her winning over the allegiance of the Russian Army who were givin a choice between Cathrine or Peter as a ruler.
- She was a Russian Orthodox
- She had a good impact on Russia because she prepared a document the recomended liberal, humanitarian, theories for governmant reform and and a new legal code. It said that all men should be created equal before the law and and that law should forbid only acts directly harmful to an individual or the community. It banned capital punishment, but still upheld absolutism in the government.
- She was described as a wel-read, cultured, extremely sharp, and an astute ruler.
- She was known for her intelligence and abition to run the Empire. She was also most known for giving women powerful positions, importing great works of literature and arts, furthering education and law codes, and land expansion of Russia.
